Happy MBS-iversary

Today is my one year anniversary working at MBS Textbook Exchange, but it definitely doesn’t feel like a year has gone by (time flies right?)

When I started last year, I was thrown into my first project of designing and developing a website for MBS’ annual event for our customers. At the time I thought the site was some of my best work as I finally had the chance to really work in HTML5 and with jQuery. One year later, I’m developing the 2012 site and still trying to push myself with new tricks (hooray for parallax!)

Where will I be in 2013? I can’t wait to find out!

MBS Bound

I have accepted a new position as Web Developer at MBS Textbook Exchange, Inc., and I can’t wait to get started!

It’s bittersweet to leave EDC; I’ll miss working side-by-side with my Husband, and travelling with him regularly, but I feel MBS is the right move for me to make professionally.

Thanks to everyone for their support on making my move.

Don’t Give Up Tohoku, Japan!

Japan FundraiserMy gym trainer (and friend) is from Japan, and still has family there. Her family has been hit hard by the earthquakes continuing to shake the country, and is having a difficult time locating everyday supplies (such as food and gasoline). In her effort to help her family, she created, “Don’t Give Up Tohoku, Japan!”

Special T-shirts have been designed (see the design to the top-left) which are selling for $20. There will also be a fundraising event held in conjunction with Key Largo Fitness and Tanning’s quarterly fitness launch at their West gym location. Along with T-shirts, there will be a ‘healthy’ bake sale, and a raffle of amazing gifts (like a 60 minute Swedish massage, and a $40 certificate to Osaka Japanese Restaurant – my personal favorite sushi restaurant here in CoMo) to help raise money. The best part about the fundraiser: all proceeds will be donated to the Tohoku prefecture!

I will be helping with the fundraiser event at Key Largo on Saturday, April 16th, from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. Come stop by, work out, and donate!

Nashville

EDC just went on a company trip to Nashville, TN to participate in the ClimateTalk™ Alliance Spring member meeting, in conjunction with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) Spring meeting. (Technology organizations love acronyms!) I am fortunate that my Husband and I got to travel together, PLUS we met up with his Parents in Nashville on Friday evening, for our own mini vacation!

A New Me, a New Design

Martin AnniversaryI’ve gone from being a “Brewer” to becoming a “Martin”, and now it’s 2011! I feel it only makes sense to update my website to reflect the new me. Cheers and happy New Year!
